Joint Oil (Joint Exploration, Exploitation and Petroleum Services Company) and ETAP (Entreprise Tunisienne d’Activités Pétrolières) are seeking investor(s) and operator(s) to pursue further exploration of Joint Oil Block for new plays and prospects under Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement, EPSA and / or development of Zarat Discovery as a unitized discovery of oil and gas under Development and Production Sharing Agreement, DPSA and Unitization Agreement (UA) & Unit Operating Agreement (UOA).

The contract work area encompassing the exploration area (Joint Oil Block) and the Zarat Discovery which extended southwest to include Zarat Discovery of ETAP in which two discovery wells by Marathon Zarat-1 and 2 were located. Fields and wells surrounding the contract area are shown in this web site maps. The wells in the contract area and vicinity are mostly available in Joint Oil data base. (E-logs and relevant reports). The contract area is 3,072 km2 (759,000 acres) for the Joint Oil Block.

Zarat Discovery is approximately 60 km2 (14,825 acres). The area water depth ranging between 80-120m (295-395ft). The area is well covered by a relatively modern 2D and 3D seismic hence there is no need for further infill seismic. The total of about 10,612 km and 1,472 km2 of 2D and 3D seismic respectively where acquired over the Block and Discovery areas from 1968 to 2013. As to the drilling activity in the Block, only 5 wells were drilled between 1976 and 2011. Four exploration wells drilled namely Zohra-1 (ZHR-1), 1976, El Amal South-1 (EAS-1), 1999, Besmah-1 (BES-1), 2002, El Amal North-1 (EAN-1), 2002 and one appraisal well Zarat North-1 (ZRTN1-1), 2011.

Joint Oil and ETAP are working together since 2016 to attract interested investors and operators to either continue the exploration efforts in the remaining surface of the block or to start the development and the exploitations of Zarat Discovery under unified technical and legal processes.
